What Is A Brazilian Butt Lift?

fat transfer buttock augmentation, often referred to as a Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL, refers to a procedure that enhances the buttocks by adding fat to the area to accentuate it. Liposuction is an important part of a Brazilian butt lift, not only to get the fat for the buttock enhancement but also to contour the torso adjacent to the buttock.
Patients are first treated with liposuction; the fat removed by liposuction from your own body is prepared in the operating room and then transferred to your buttocks. The fat added to your buttocks will make it fuller, rounder, and lifted.

Who Is A Candidate For A Brazilian Butt Lift?

Anyone who is interested in a fuller, rounder, and lifted buttock, and is in good health may be a candidate for our Brazilian butt lift. Patients must have enough fat amenable to liposuction; people cannot donate fat to someone else’s BBL. Schedule a consultation with our Boston Brazilian butt lift team to find out more.

Recovery And Results

A Brazilian butt lift is generally a one day surgical procedure; if it is combined with other procedures, patients will occasionally stay overnight. The most important part of recovery is minimizing the pressure on the transferred fat for three weeks. Patients should sleep on their stomach during this time and avoid sitting directly on the areas that have had fat transferred, patients should sit with good posture with padding under their thighs and behind the back, and stand as much as possible during the day.
Patients are up and walking the evening of surgery and return to routine activities within seven to ten days after the surgery. Initially, the buttock area is swollen so it will be much larger than the final result. The swelling will increase for approximately three days after surgery and not all the transferred fat will ultimately survive. The swelling goes away over three to six weeks and about half of the fat that is transferred disappears also. By six weeks when the swelling is largely gone and the fat is alive in its new location, you will see the final volume of the buttock. For the areas treated with liposuction, you will see near-final results approximately six weeks after surgery, although these areas will continue subtle improvement for up to six months after surgery. Our team at Clareo Plastic Surgery strives to deliver the best Brazilian butt lift Boston has to offer, please contact us so we can answer any questions or concerns you may have about your recovery and results.
