Reshape Your Nose

to be in harmony with your facial features – in an aesthetic surgery center that places the utmost importance on quality, safety, and service.

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, also referred to as a “nose job” or nose reshaping, is a surgical procedure to change the appearance of the nose, most commonly the bridge or the tip, or both.
The procedure can be combined with surgery of the internal nasal anatomy to improve impaired breathing. Our Boston rhinoplasty can permanently change the appearance of the nose.

Types Of Rhinoplasty

full rhinoplasty involves reshaping the nasal bones and nose tip. A tip rhinoplasty reshapes the cartilage inside the tip of the nose only. Sometimes the bump of the nose alone is treated surgically. A “liquid rhinoplasty” is the injection of filler into the nose to change the appearance of the nose. Rhinoplasty can be combined with a septoplasty to treat impaired breathing.

Am I A Candidate For Rhinoplasty?

Anyone who is in good health and is bothered by the appearance of her or his nose, considering it out of balance with facial features, might be a candidate for rhinoplasty.
The ideal candidate for rhinoplasty is someone that would like to correct the appearance or functionality of the nose but also understands that plastic surgery will not correct poor self-esteem. While rhinoplasty undoubtedly helps patients experience a boost in confidence regarding their facial appearance, it does not have the ability to change who you are inside.
Candidates for the procedure are in good mental and physical health overall. Smokers, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and patients with certain medical conditions may not qualify for the procedure. It is important to answer all medical history questionnaires truthfully, as Clareo Plastic Surgery puts patient safety and results above all else.

Which Type Of Rhinoplasty Is Best For You?

To determine your eligibility for the rhinoplasty procedure and discuss the available options, please schedule a personalized consultation with Dr. Tantillo.
A consultation with our rhinoplasty surgeon in Boston provides an opportunity for each patient to share the cosmetic and functional concerns of their nose. After conducting a visual examination of the nose structure, he will discuss the procedure in detail so that you can make an informed decision about whether to proceed with nose surgery.

Rhinoplasty Recovery

Rhinoplasty is a one-day surgical procedure; patients go home approximately two hours after the procedure but must keep their head elevated for the first several days after the procedure to minimize swelling. Most of the swelling will be gone by four to six weeks after the procedure; although, it takes six months for all the swelling to resolve from the nasal tip.
If work was done on the nasal bones, a splint will be applied and remain on for five days after surgery. Bruising near the nose and under-eye area is also common after nasal surgery. Most bruising will resolve in approximately two weeks after the procedure. Bruising does not indicate a problem. It is considered a normal response to facial surgery as nose reshaping does involve a degree of tissue trauma when restructuring the bones and cartilage. Clareo Plastic Surgery serves men and women in the Boston region and beyond, including Newton, Needham, Brookline, and more that need help reducing nose size and shaping a sculpted nose that fits with the patient’s unique preferences. Rhinoplasty Downtime

In some cases, patients may be instructed to apply ice to the area for up to 72 hours after the rhinoplasty procedure. Ice effectively reduces swelling and bruising because it acts as a vasoconstrictor. Ice should not be applied directly to the skin. It is important not to apply too much pressure as well.
Drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated is also effective at promoting healing. Our Boston rhinoplasty patients with sedentary jobs such as in-office or clerical work can return to work seven to ten days after the surgery. Patients with physically demanding careers such as athletes and manual laborers may require more time off or modified job duties in order to facilitate healing. You will want to avoid contact with the nose for at least three months after the surgery. Activities that present a high risk of injury or trauma, such as certain sports or recreations, should be avoided.

Rhinoplasty FAQs

Rhinoplasty, or nose reshaping, and colloquially called a nose job, is an operation to improve the appearance of the bridge as well as the tip of the nose. Rhinoplasty can also repair impaired breathing or a deviated septum.

Most nose reshaping requires breaking and setting of the nasal bones, in which case there is often bruising for seven to ten days after surgery. Most patients return to non-strenuous work approximately a week after surgery. Patients should avoid strenuous activity for four weeks after surgery and avoid being struck in the nose for three months after surgery.

Noticeable swelling will subside approximately three weeks after surgery; however, it will take six months for all of the swellings in the tip of the nose to go away.

The cost of Rhinoplasty can vary greatly from patient to patient. Call or contact our office for a personal estimate for this procedure.
