This patient in her early sixties from Boston’s MetroWest came to my office to discuss revision of her breast augmentation and improvement of her abdomen. Her implants were placed thirty plus years prior and she had developed capsular contracture of both breasts. She had also had abdominal surgery in the past and was interested in improving the appearance and contour of her abdomen.

At surgery I completely removed her implant capsules and implants. I replaced the implants with slightly larger low profile implants; 350cc smooth round silicone gel filled implants. I changed the implant pocket from subglandular to dual plane (from over to under the muscle). At the same operation I also did a full abdominoplasty. Breast and abdominal surgery can usually be performed at a single operation; however, each patient’s situation is assessed individually. These type of operations are performed in my fully accredited surgery facility or in a hospital depending on the patient’s situation and preferences.
